Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 is an immersive and realistic soccer simulator developed by Konami for Windows. With a wide selection of teams to choose from, players can compete solo or against others online, making it a truly global experience.
As the 17th entry in the PES franchise, PES 2018 sets a new standard for the series. While retaining the core features of previous entries, such as selecting global teams and players, PES 2018 introduces major improvements that elevate the gameplay to a whole new level.
One of the standout features of PES 2018 is its stunning graphics. Built on Konami's Fox Engine, the game delivers lifelike player models with expressive faces and animations. The improved lighting adds to the realism, creating a vibrant and immersive soccer experience.
The gameplay itself has also received a major overhaul. The action is slower and more deliberate, allowing players to focus on strategy and making the experience more realistic and enjoyable. Despite the slower pace, the controls remain fluid and responsive, enabling players to execute elegant maneuvers and pro-level plays with ease.
However, PES 2018 does have some shortcomings. One of the major complaints is the lack of licenses, which means that many team names and related content are replaced with generic placeholders. This diminishes the sense of realism and immersion for some players.
Additionally, the in-game commentators leave much to be desired. The commentary feels lifeless and repetitive, lacking the responsiveness found in other modern sports titles. As a result, many players choose to play with the commentary muted.
Furthermore, mouse-and-keyboard players may find it more challenging to play compared to those using a controller. Keyboard and mouse support is limited, indicating that PES 2018 was primarily designed for controller gameplay.
Despite these shortcomings, PES 2018 excels in terms of gameplay and offers a unique experience for die-hard soccer fans. While FIFA may dominate in terms of officially licensed content, PES proves to be a serious contender with its gameplay improvements.
Although PES 2018 is not the latest installment in the series, it is still worth playing, especially for those who are not yet ready to download PES 2019. Upgrade to a controller for a more enjoyable overall experience.
